SUMMARY:Achi Chokyi Drolma Meditation Practice
DESCRIPTION:Achi Chokyi Drolma is chief Dharma Protectress of the Drikung Kagyu\, and the revered great-grandmother of Lord Jigten Sumgon\, founder of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage. \nAs a protectress\, she vowed to guard the Buddha’s teachings\, and in particular the Drikung Kagyu lineage and its practitioners\, removing inner and outer obstacles to practice and laying the groundwork for progress along the path. Those who practice her meditation and recite her mantra are certain to be protected from obstacles and hindrances. \nIn her right hand she holds a silver mirror in which she sees the 3 times\, and in her left\, a wish-fulfilling jewel with which she fulfills the wishes of those who earnestly pray to her. During this practice we will aspire not only to benefit all sentient beings\, to remove the obstacles of war\, disease\, and afflictive emotions\, but also to establish the Buddha-dharma and our dharma center in Tucson. \n“When Achi was born\, numerous auspicious signs\, such as flowers\, parasols\, and rainbows\, appeared in the sky\,” teaches H.E. Garchen Rinpoche. Such are her miraculous qualities\, which continue to manifest to this day. \nThis practice was written by Lord Jigten Sumgon and translated into English by Virginia Blum. \nWe encourage a participatory style of practice\, in which everyone has an opportunity to take part and to learn how to do the practice\, and beginners are welcome. \nTo join the practice via Zoom:\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/85718559928 \n\n\nA Concise Daily Practice of Achi (sadhana)\nMusings of a Practitioner\nWorld Peace Prayer\nTara Wartime Prayer\nHow Achi Chokyi Drolma Acquired Her 3 Names (invocation)\nKhenchen Gyaltsen Chanting the Achi Mantra (mantra with melody)

SUMMARY:Lojong Teaching with Drupon Thinley Ningpo - August 9-11\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Our Beloved Drupon Thinley Ningpo \nDrikung Namgyal Ling and Arizona Friends of Tibet welcome our beloved teacher\, Drupon Thinley Ningpo\, back to Tucson from August 9th\, 10th and 11th\, 2024. We begin on Friday evening with a public talk at 7pm. Then\, on Saturday and Sunday\, teaching will begin at 10am and end at 5pm PST\, with a break for lunch from 12-2pm. \nAugust 9th: 7pm-9pm PST\nAugust 10: 10am-5pm PST (lunch break: 12-2pm)\nAugust 11: 10am-5pm PST (lunch break: 12-2pm) \n \n\nLojong\, or mind training\, serves as an invaluable method for applying Buddhist practice in everyday life. It makes use of slogans or aphorisms as a powerful\, pithy\, and practical means of developing bodhichitta. It particularly emphasizes the practice of “exchanging oneself for others.” \nAs practitioners we learn the importance of accumulating merit and wisdom\, and nurturing love and compassion for all beings. During teachings or in the presence of our teachers and their living example\, these key ideas can become very clear and inspirational\, but after the teachings\, when we are on our own\, it’s easy to slip into old tendencies. \nLojong training counteracts the tendency to separate our “dharma” life from daily life so that we remember how to put the teachings into practice at all times\, especially when we encounter difficulties and suffering\, our own and others. \nInitially introduced by Atisha in the 10th century\, Lojong has taken many forms but one of the most famous texts\, commonly referred to as “Seven Point Mind Training”\, was composed by the 12th century master\, Chekawa Yeshe Dorje. \nDrupon Thinley Ningpo will guide us through this well-known text\, elucidating the deeper meaning and history of these classic Buddhist slogans\, and how they still apply to the modern age. \nPractice Text for Teaching:\nThe Seven Points of Mind Training \nTo Join Via Zoom:\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/81782852263 \n\nLocation + Registration\nThe teachings will be held at Red Tree Meditation & Yoga Center in Tucson and simultaneously broadcast online via Zoom.  We strongly encourage you to attend in person. \nAll are welcome\, no previous experience necessary\, \nThe suggested donation for each day is $35\, or whatever amount you can donate to support this and future teachings in the Old Pueblo.
