SUMMARY:Achi Practice
DESCRIPTION:Achi Chokyi Droma was the grandmother of Lord Jigten Sumgon\, who founded the Drikung Kagyu Lineage. Achi is considered chief protectress of the Drikung Kagyu. In Achi meditation practice\, we use visualization and mantra as a means of concentration. The practice lasts approximately an hour and a half\, and consists of opening prayers for dedicating the motivation to benefit all others\, the body of the practice using visualization (contemplation of the mental visual image) and mantra (chanted prayers). The practice concludes with dedication prayers where\, again\, we think of our wish to benefit all other beings.\nThe prayers\, visualization\, and dedication are read from a sadhana (traditional practice text). \nThis particular practice was written by Jigten Sumgon\, our lineageís founder\, and translated in to English by Khenchen Gyaltsen Rinpoche.\nBeginners are welcome at this practice. \n2nd & 4th Wednesdays\, Every Month \nAda Pierce McCormick BuildingUniversity of Arizona Campus1401 East First Street\nTucson\, Arizona 85719(Click here for a map) \nFor More Information: Ann Danowitz: 631-8727

SUMMARY:Path Mahamudra Instruction and Practice
DESCRIPTION:Path Mahamudra is associated with the various methods and practices of meditation from the Vajrayana tradition for the realization of awareness-wisdom. This includes the various yidam and inner yoga practices of the anutarayoga tantras\, as well as the formless mahamudra instructions of abiding in naked or formless awareness. \nDrupon Rinpoche will teach us by providing heart-advice from his own experience as a meditation retreat master (Drupon) interwoven with short meditation sessions to help us look more closely and deeply into the inherent state of awareness.\nLocation:\n1871 N. King Street Tucson\, Arizona 85749 (Click here for a map) \nFor More Information:\nPati Stein: 465-1882

SUMMARY:Vajrayogini Empowerment
DESCRIPTION:Vajryogini is a female Buddha who embodies oneís innermost essence and is associated with the mother tantras of anutaratantra yoga. According to Tsongkapa\, her practice includes methods for preventing ordinary death\, awareness in the intermediate state or bardo and rebirth by transforming these into paths\, including the transformation of mundane daily activities into the enlightened state of mind.\nPlease Note:\nAchi Chokyi Drolma\, the protector of the Drikung Kagyu lineage is an emanation of Vajrayogini. This empowerment is intended to support the Achi retreat with Drupon Rinpoche the following weekend of 5/21 – 5/23. However\, attendance of the empowerment is not required for the Retreat. Vajrayogini is the consort of Chakrasamvara\, the principle deity of the Drikung Kagyu lineage. \nComing in July & August 2010: H.H. Chetsang Rinpoche will be giving the Chakrasamvara empowerment at our sister center\, the Garchen Buddhist Institute in Chino Valley\, Arizona. \nLocation:\n1871 N. King Street Tucson\, Arizona 85749 (Click here for a map) \nFor More Information:\nPati Stein: 465-1882
