SUMMARY:Monday Meditation Practice - Amitahba
DESCRIPTION:Each Monday we come together to listen\, contemplate\, and meditate on the Buddhist teachings.Buddha Amitabha is an historical buddha from another era. He made special aspiration that he would accomplish bodhicitta and benefit all sentient beings. In particular he focused on his pure land called Dewachen and said even those who have not achieved bhumis can be reborn in my pure land. They can make this connection simply by hearing my name and developing devotion.\nCurrently we are listening to the teachings of Garchen Rinpoche on Deity practice.\nMeditation practice can vary from week to week. Frequently we practice White Tara\, Achi\, Amitabha\, or Vajrasattva deity meditation\, using visualization and mantra as a means of concentration.\nThis practice is free and beginners are welcome.\nFollowing this practice\, we will also listen to Garchen Rinpoche’s teaching on “Essential Pith Instructions on the Accomplishment Practice of Yamataka”. This teaching was held in Tucson in December of 2010.\nGarchen Rinpoche had this to say about this practice: \n“When you are meditating on loving-kindness and compassion for all\, then you have no ego-clinging. Without ego-clinging nothing can harm you. So through Yamataka we meditate on compassion for all sentient beings and nothing – curses\, sorcery\, whatever – can harm us.\nIf you understand this then you understand all there is to know about Yamataka Practice.”\nAdditionally\, practitioners who attended this teaching have said this instruction from Garchen Rinpoche is helpful instruction for all Deity Practices.\n\n \nEvery Monday Evening \n4648 East Speedway Blvd Tucson\, Arizona 85711 (Click here for a map) \nFor More Information: Pati Stein: 465-1882

SUMMARY:The Fivefold Path of Mahamudra
DESCRIPTION:Drupon Trinley Yeshi Rinpoche \nThe Fivefold Path of Mahamudra includes the cultivation of bodhicitta\, guru yoga practice\, yidam practice\, Mahamudra practice\, and the dedication of merit. This is a special way of laying out the path of practice according to the Drikung Kagyu lineage.\n\nIt is especially good fortune to receive these teachings from Drupon Yeshi Rinpoche\, because he holds this lineage purely. He received it directly from one of the main Drikung Kagyu lineage holders\, Drubwang Pachung Rinpoche\, and as well as from Drubwang Tenzin Nyima\, the main lineage holders of the Fivefold Path of Mahamudra. To receive the direct transmission of these teachings from Drupon Yeshi Rinpoche is thus a very rare and precious opportunity. \nThis practice lineage possesses truly great blessings. As a lineage is passed from master to disciple\, it is actually the practice lineage that is passed on\, which means the master must first have attained complete experience and realization in the practice. He or she then passes it on to a disciple\, who must then himself or herself gain the same experience and realization. Thus it is passed on\, creating a very pure lineage of great blessings.\n\nH.E. Garchen Rinpoche has said about Drupon Yeshi Rinpoche: “He is an inconceivable\, extraordinary master\, truly upholding the teachings of the Drikung Kagyu. He is a true\, authentic\, qualified spiritual master\, and you should make a dedicated effort to come and receive his teachings. You should take this opportunity to ask him questions about your practice\, for it is very\, very rare.”\n\nThis teaching will take place Friday evening from 7-9pm\, Saturday 9am-12pm and 2-5pm\, and Sunday 9am-12pm.\nTraditional Tibetan Healing\nFrom 2-5pm on Sunday\, Drupon Rinpoche will bestow a Traditional Tibetan Healing to those who wish it. This tradition is believed to bestow blessings and remove obstacle to good health and happiness. To help us plan better\, please let us know you’ll be attending. Contact Pati at 465-1882. \n\nDates/Times:\nFriday\, July 19\, 7-9pm\nSaturday\, July 20\, 9am-12pm & 2-5pm\nSunday\, July 21\, 9am-12pm\n\nTraditional Tibetan Healing\nSunday\, July 21\, 2-5pm\nSuggested Donation:\n$85 for the weekend.\nLocation:\n1871 N. SUMMARY:Essence of Great Bliss
DESCRIPTION:Lama Thupten Nyima \nThis lyrical liturgy will include traditional chanted recitation with the Venerable Lama Thupten Nima\, Chant Master from Gar Monastery in Tibet\, and current resident teacher at Garchen Institute in Chino Valley\, Arizona. Lama Nyima will instruct and guide us on this special practice weekend. \nThe Essence of Great Bliss and its accompanying texts are treasures revealed by the 19th century Drigung Kagy¸ Tertˆn Orgyen N¸den Dorje. The focus of this method for accomplishing the mind of Guru Rinpoche–from refuge at the beginning through dedication at the end–is the accomplishment of the Great Perfection. \nAlthough three different mantras are recited during the practice\, the principal recitation is that of the approach mantra: Om ah hum vajra guru padma siddhi hum. The practice is meant to be done in a group retreat setting and is chanted with lovely melodies throughout. \nAs this accomplishment retreat is traditionally held yearly at Gar Monastery in Eastern Tibet\, Garchen Rinpoche has encouraged its practice by his disciples in the west.\n\nDates/Times:\nSaturday & Sunday\, September 7 & 8\, 9am-12pm & 2-5pm\n\nSuggested Donation:\n$85 for the weekend.\nLocation:\n1871 N. SUMMARY:Love\, Compassion\, and Bodhichitta
DESCRIPTION:The Special Ngondro: The Meditation of Love\, Compassion\, and Bodhichitta is the 5th practice in the Drikung Ngondro. \nIn his book\, Diamond Rosary\, The Most Venerable Khenchen Gyaltsen Rinpoche said the following about this practice:\n\nThis precious teaching is a powerful way to recognize our own potential and it gives us full confidence to pursue the path. In our confusion we do not recognize our own home as buddha nature. We have traveled far away from our basic goodness and suffer greatly in that confusion.\n\nThis practice gives us a method to dispel confusion and return home. These Dharma teachings especially … bodhicitta\, give us an opportunity to completely reveal our buddha nature that has been hidden by afflicting emotions and negative karma.\n\nAs part of this practice teaching\, Drupon Dorje will also offer the Bodhisattva vow.\n\nFor those interested\, Diamond Rosary will be available for purchase at the teaching.\n\nDates/Times:\nSaturday & Sunday\, November 16 & 17\, 9am-12pm & 2-5pm\n\nSuggested Donation:\n$85 for the weekend.\nLocation:\n1871 N. SUMMARY:Tummo Practice Instruction
DESCRIPTION:Tummo is one of the 6 Yogas of Naropa. It focuses on controlling the bodies energies and turning them to heat and bliss. \nThe purpose of Tummo is to gain control over bodily processes during the completion stage of “highest yoga practices” thus furthering one’s goal towards enlightenment. Though having basic yogic training is helpful\, this teaching is open to everyone. \nDrupon Thinley Ningpo Rinpoche will instruct us in the practice of Tummo (a completion stage practice) using Vajrayogini as a generation stage practice.
