SUMMARY:Introduction to Mahamudra: The Co-Emergent Unification
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Mahamudra the Co-emergent Unification by Lord Jigten Sumgon is considered the amalgalmation of the entire gamut of essential instructions of Buddha’s teachings of sutra and tantra. Lord Sumgon founded the Drigung Kagyu order of Tibetan Buddhism in the twelfth century and taught the Dharma of the three vehicles extensively for forty years. Lord Sumgon had more than a hundred thousand disciples at a time\, and as the famous saying goes\, “the mountains are filled with Drigung practitioners and the plains are filled with Drigung patrons.” His teachings\, coming from his own experience\, are well known for their clarity and precision. This is the second year in a row that we will be the fortunate recipients of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche’s wisdom and instruction. \n St. Markís Presbyterian Church 3809 East Third Street Tucson\, Arizona 85716 (Click here for a map) \n\n (Click here to download a teaching flyer.) \n(Click here to download a Lunch with the Lama reservation form.) \n(Click here to pre-register.)

SUMMARY:Loving Kindness and Compassion: Finding Happiness in an Imperfect World
DESCRIPTION:This Event is a Public TalkìWe begin the spiritual path by cultivating a strong mind wishing to achieve enlightenment for the sake of others; that mind is bodhicitta. Without it – all meditation practices are futile; with it- the eventual attainment of enlightenment is certain. The only way to develop loving-kindness\, compassion\, and bodhicitta is through deep concern for sentient beings; if they did not exist\, love would remain a mystery. Thus\, it is clear that oneís own enlightenment depends on other sentient beings; without them to cherish\, one can make no progress on the path.î\n – Khenchen Gyaltsen Rinpoche\nAfter an absence of almost five years\, Khenchen Gyaltsen Rinpoche will be returning to his students in Tucson. It is very rare to meet a Lama with such extensive training in Buddhist philosophy and such profound meditation experience. In addition\, Rinpoche’s complete fluency in English makes him exceptionally capable of communicating the profound meaning of the teachings.\nThis event is free.\n \n\n\nUniversity of Arizona\nCESL Building\, Room 102\nTucson\, Arizona 85716\n(Click here for a location map)\n(Click here for parking information.)
