SUMMARY:3-Day Chenrezig Drupchen Practice
DESCRIPTION:  \nChenrezig Empowerment and 3-Day Drupchen Practice\nDrupon Thinley Ningpo will return April 24 through 26 for our first Drupchen! This will be a 24 hour practice over these three days. \nChenrezig is renowned as the embodiment of the compassion of all the Buddhas\, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Whenever we are compassionate\, or feel love for anyone\, or for an animal or some part of the natural world\, we experience a taste of our own natural connection with Chenrezig. \nAlthough we may not be as consistently compassionate as some of the great meditation masters\, Tibetan Buddhists believe that we all share\, in our basic nature\, unconditional compassion and wisdom that is no different from what we see in Chenrezig. \nDrupchen means vast accomplishment and is a form of intensive group practice. This practice will continue night and day through these three days. Participants will be welcome to practice though the entire weekend or drop in for sessions. Preregistration will be required for meals and for overnight stays.  We will be providing more information as the time gets closer. \nThe Empowerment will be offered April 24\, Friday 9am to Noon.  Empowerment is not required to participate. \nWe also welcome volunteers and helpers for such event. Please let us know if you are interested in helping us organize this Chenrezig Drupchen event. \nMore details to follow. \nPlease call Pati 520-465-1882

SUMMARY:Monday Meditation Practice - Amitahba
DESCRIPTION:Each Monday we come together to listen\, contemplate\, and meditate on the Buddhist teachings.Buddha Amitabha is an historical buddha from another era. He made special aspiration that he would accomplish bodhicitta and benefit all sentient beings. In particular he focused on his pure land called Dewachen and said even those who have not achieved bhumis can be reborn in my pure land. They can make this connection simply by hearing my name and developing devotion.\nCurrently we are listening to the teachings of Garchen Rinpoche on Deity practice.\nMeditation practice can vary from week to week. Frequently we practice White Tara\, Achi\, Amitabha\, or Vajrasattva deity meditation\, using visualization and mantra as a means of concentration.\nThis practice is free and beginners are welcome.\nFollowing this practice\, we will also listen to Garchen Rinpoche’s teaching on “Essential Pith Instructions on the Accomplishment Practice of Yamataka”. This teaching was held in Tucson in December of 2010.\nGarchen Rinpoche had this to say about this practice: \n“When you are meditating on loving-kindness and compassion for all\, then you have no ego-clinging. Without ego-clinging nothing can harm you. So through Yamataka we meditate on compassion for all sentient beings and nothing – curses\, sorcery\, whatever – can harm us.\nIf you understand this then you understand all there is to know about Yamataka Practice.”\nAdditionally\, practitioners who attended this teaching have said this instruction from Garchen Rinpoche is helpful instruction for all Deity Practices.\n\n \nEvery Monday Evening \n4648 East Speedway Blvd Tucson\, Arizona 85711 (Click here for a map) \nFor More Information: Pati Stein: 465-1882

SUMMARY:Manjushri Empowerment
DESCRIPTION:Manjushri is considered a warrior wisdom being who is both noble and gentle. Jnana sattva is a term used in tantric Buddhism to denote the true form of a deity as an aspect of enlightenment\, which is invoked at the beginning of your meditation practice. Here\, this warrior wisdom being refers to a powerful mind-set that completely remedies or purifies all negative thoughts. In other words\, it is a courageous mind that can be a primary source of peace and harmony for every sentient being. This courage characterizes a sattvika\, the combined embodiment of compassion and great wisdom. This kind of warrior has an indomitable courage that cannot be overwhelmed by disturbing emotions. We practice this sadhana\, in order to cultivate these qualities within ourselves.\n\nIf you have any further questions\, please contact Matthew at matthew@drikungkagyutucson.org or call 884-0554.\nAs a courtesy to those with allergies\, please refrain from wearing perfume. SUMMARY:Study/Orientation Sessions - Yamantaka
DESCRIPTION:In preparation for Garchen Rinpcohe’s Manjushri Yamantaka Empowerment and Teachings at DNL on December 10th & 11th\, there will be an oral-transmission of the Manjushri Yamantaka Accomplishment retreat text (Rigzin Chodrag/Nuden Dorje) by local sangha members – as requested by Garchen Rinpoche. He will not be able to give the oral-transmission of the text during the teachings – due to time constraints.\nThere will be 3 sessions offered and each session will be a complete reading of the long form of the text. If you’re interested in receiving this it is necessary to participate in only one complete oral-transmission session. It is okay to participate in this as often as you like. Each oral transmission session requires approximately 2 & 1/2 hours to complete. SUMMARY:New Year's Eve Puja and Pot Luck
DESCRIPTION:DNL New Years Puja – Summoning Good Fortune\nPlease join us for a special New Years Eve practice\, Tsok Feast\, and Pot Luck. Of course.” :):)\n\nThis has actually always been the plan. Khenpo Sherab Ozer has asked us to work toward the purchase of property so the center can further assist beings. We have been quietly working toward this goal. We are now working in earnest to earnest. There are many ways to help – i.e.\, joining our membership or helping with our other fundraising efforts. Many of you have been helping and we are very grateful.\n\nAnother form of help is through practice. Garchen Rinpoche and Aboa Lama have gifted the center with a Treasure Vase and have asked that we gather and do Dzambala Practice together. Dzambala is a Deity practice for summoning good fortune for all. Let’s gather and work towards everyone having what they need for 2010.\n\nWhite Zhamabala is an excellent practice towards making good wishes towards all sentient beings in the year 2010. May ALL beings have their needs met this next year. 🙂\n\nPlease join us for this special practice\, pot luck\, and smoke offering celebration. You are welcome to come and go at their own discretion for any part or the whole evening.\n\n* The food theme for the pot-luck is Mexican. To coordinate food call Rachel\, 302-9142. SUMMARY:Lama Chopa (Guru Yoga) Tsok Feast
DESCRIPTION:The Jewel Ornament of Liberation teachings will be followed by a Lama Chopa (Guru Yoga) TsokñFeast on Wednesday\, 7/15\, from 7-9pm*.* Please bring a very small food offering of nuts\, fruit\, crackers\, cookies\, etc.\n \n Among the most profound of Tibetan Buddhist ritual ceremonies is the Lama Chopa Tsok Feast Offering. It is a ceremony of prayer\, chanting\, music\, meditation and a ritual feast. It contains all of the points of the Lamrim meditation on guru devotion\, presented in a way that directly appeals to our senses and emotions. The more devotion we have to our teacher\, the more there is the wish to make offerings to him\, and the Lama Chopa ceremony creates the opportunity for making many kinds of offering – food\, drink\, lights\, incense\, music\, and the best form of offering to the Guru\, which is the offering of practice itself; in this case the practice of doing the chanting\, visualizations and prayers of the first part of the ceremony and the meditation on the Lamrim which forms the second part of the ritual.
