Refuge and Prostration Practice Instruction
February 4, 2006 @ 12:00 am - February 5, 2006 @ 12:00 am
Refuge is considered the foundation of the path to liberation, the basis of all vows, the source of all enlightened qualities and the point of differentiation between buddhists and non-buddhists. Together with generating Bodhichitta, it forms the foundation for accomplishing the level of complete enlightenment and the source of all that is positive in existence and peace.
Prostration (in the Tibetan spiritual sense) signifies respect and compassion for all sentient beings. It helps purify one’s negative past and present karma and creates positive merit. When one practices prostrations, they lose nothing but their ego attachment. The bigger the ego – the more suffering. The lesser the ego – the less suffering one has.
The Venerable Traga Rinpoche from Garchen Buddhist Institute in Chino Valley Arizona, will be providing instruction on refuge and prostration practice in this two-day teaching.
