This Medicine Buddha Practice Instruction teaching will be preceded by a Medicine Buddha Empowerment, also given by Khenpo Sherab Ozer Rinpoche. Attendance of the empowerment is not required for the Practice Instruction teaching.

Medicine Buddha (Sangye Menla in Tibetan) is a practice commonly performed by Tibetan doctors, intended to heal those suffering ignorance and the resulting afflictive emotions, and awakening their (and our) Buddha nature.



The “medicine” is the holy Dharma and all sentient beings are patients. As with other practices, the ultimate purpose is enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. The Medicine Buddha practice also has the benefit of developing good physical health for oneself and others.
