September 5, 2008 @ 12:00 am

In Buddhism, the central teaching of the Buddha, is comprised of a set of basic concepts known as The Four Noble Truths. First is the reality of suffering (Pali dukkha), which carries the meaning of impermanence and imperfection. Secondly, suffering is caused by attachments, cravings, and desires (tanha). Thirdly, suffering can be extinguished by breaking our attachment to desires (nirodha). Lastly,
there is the path to the ending of suffering, through following the Eightfold Path, which provides ways to regulate and discipline behavior.
