This Medicine Buddha Empowerment will be followed in the afternoon by a Medicine Buddha Practice Instruction teaching, also given by Khenpo Sherab Ozer Rinpoche.


Medicine Buddha (Sangye Menla in Tibetan) is a practice commonly performed by Tibetan doctors, intended to heal those suffering ignorance and the resulting afflictive emotions, and awakening their (and our) Buddha nature.



The “medicine” is the holy Dharma and all sentient beings are patients. As with other practices, the ultimate purpose is enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. The Medicine Buddha practice, related to this empowerment, also has the benefit of developing good physical health for oneself and others.
