Achi Chokyi Drolma Meditation Practice

October 19, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)
Every week until February 1, 2023

Achi Chokyi Drolma is chief Dharma Protectress of the Drikung Kagyu, and the revered great-grandmother of Lord Jigten Sumgon, founder of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage.

As a protectress, she vowed to guard the Buddha’s teachings, and in particular the Drikung Kagyu lineage and its practitioners, removing inner and outer obstacles to practice and laying the groundwork for progress along the path. Those who practice her meditation and recite her mantra are certain to be protected from obstacles and hindrances.

In her right hand she holds a silver mirror in which she sees the 3 times, and in her left, a wish-fulfilling jewel with which she fulfills the wishes of those who earnestly pray to her. During this practice we will aspire not only to benefit all sentient beings, to remove the obstacles of war, disease, and afflictive emotions, but also to establish the Buddha-dharma and our dharma center in Tucson.

“When Achi was born, numerous auspicious signs, such as flowers, parasols, and rainbows, appeared in the sky,” teaches H.E. Garchen Rinpoche. Such are her miraculous qualities, which continue to manifest to this day.

This practice was written by Lord Jigten Sumgon and translated into English by Virginia Blum.

We encourage a participatory style of practice, in which everyone has an opportunity to take part and to learn how to do the practice, and beginners are welcome.
